Hi forum today this evening my Barthel lotlampen arrived by currier.
Ich am very pleased with it, I don't think it needs any work on it I have given it a it pumps up to pressure and there is nein pressure loss.
Even though there is a little paint loss on the tank and handle , ich don't think it has had been used much if not at all.
There don't seem to be any fuel smell in the tank, and there is no carbon on any part of the burner.
Here are a couple of pictures I have taken of it, hopefully in more detail than the first picture from ebay.
Hi Willi danke, ich am looking forward for it to arrive so I can service it firing it up
Hallo Forum, today in fact a very short while ich was the lucky winner of a Barthel 376.
I have been wanting some Deustch lotlampens in my collection for a while now, I won this one today which is my 3rd now
many danke to Kiki und Karli for all the kind help links posted to me, as there are not many Deustch made torches come up on the UK ebay site.
I am very lucky to win the Barthel 376 for just £4.99 plus shipment Ich was the only bidder, here is a picture of it taken as it was shown on ebay ich will add another thread of it working and in more detail when it arrives
Hallo und gut morgen forum, here is the large military lotlampen finished and a link to a film of of it working on you tube.
As you can see in the pictures the first shows it all stripped down and painted and all parts serviced.
The steel tank has been repainted in the original colour of the period, and the inside has been treated with POR15 to form a barrier and to prevent rust from forming inside of the tank.
I hope you enjoy the pics and as all ways many kind thanks for allowing me to post in English und my apologies for not being able to speak in Deutsch
Hi Mario today I have removed all the paint including the original layer, that was British military green and I found the makers name and date stamped on the front.
It is a British made blowtorch, it is stamped Turley & Williams The British safety stove co Ltd 1941/2 with the military arrow mark.
All these models in the links, and this one are very similar all most identical, but the Barthel has different style of filler cap and pressure release that makes it more unique
Hallo Peter and Mario, thank you both for such nice complements. It is for kerosene peter as all of these pattern were made for kerosene.
I have yet to remove the old paint Mario, hopefully I will find a makers name.
Danke for the link I have seen a Barthel of this pattern, butt all the ones I have seen here were British made Monitor being the most common. here is a link to one for sale on ebay a monitor 52 which is all most identical to the Barthel.
The standard British blowtorch, is from the Sweedish design, but was this design of blow torch German or British?

Hi forum, here is my latest blowtorch/lotlampen, I won this on ebay for £8.00.
It is a heavy duty paraffin/kerosene/ brazing blowtorch, it is British made and the tank is made of steel so I assume it is around 1941-late 40's.
Ich am not sure what make and manufacture it is, as I can not see any makers name on it, as at some stage a previous owner has repainted it in black hammerite paint.
Ich will start restoring it over the week end, hopefully while restoring and cleaning it ich may find out who the manufacture and model it ist
Hi Carsten yes the 639 really works very good, very good build quality.
And they are nice to operate, with little to go wrong with
Hi Christian, wie sie sind many thanks for such a kind compliement .
Hi Gerald I agree with you they are really nice quality, I notice they are woven very tightly compared to all the mantles I have used, I wonder if that has any thing to do with the light out put and durability.
I forgot here is a close up of one of the GASMAN mantles fitted to the lantern.
Hallo Apollo11 many kind thanks for your compliments, I have purchased some 1111 mantels made in the phillipines by Gasman mantle MFG CORP they are really good, I think the petromax 500cp mantles should also work well
Hi again forum, here is the second chapter of the coleman639 restoration.
After I stripped all the old paint of the tank, I keyed the surface with some medium grade wet and dry paper, I then gave it three light coats of red oxide primmer, then three light coats of Ford pine green, which I was not happy with the colour match so I gave it two coats of plasti- kote lawn green, and I then put the new Coleman decal on, and then re assembled the lantern here are the next chapter of pictures showing the process.
Hi forum, last week a won a Coleman639 kerosene lantern on ebay., it was made in1973 so it is exactly 40 years old.
I have been after one of these style lanterns, with the convex/ barrelled globe for a long time and I was very lucky no one bidded on it.
It has been used and for it's age in good condition, all that I have really done with this lantern is to repaint the tank and apply a new decal, as there was few very light rust spots breaking through the paint. so I decided to repaint the tank to protect the steel tank from rusting.
The Coleman 639, is a beautiful well made lantern and is now my favourite, I forgot to mention it is a 500cp lamp so it puts out a great amount of light.
Here are a few pictures of various stages of restoration, I will have to upload the pics in two chapters
Gutne morgen Kiki und Karly wie sie sind, nett find and as all ways a very good picture tutorial.
a nett easy to service safety valve on this model, I notice this model does not have a built in cleaning needle on the regulator spindle.
Ich am looking forward to seeing this old beauty working, even though it does not have a pump and is self pressureising, ich am sure it is going to have nett power and will work well
Hallo Arnoud welcome to pelam, and a very gutt first post.
you have 3 brilliant monster lotlampens it would be gutt to see them working.
Sorry Arnoud I don't speak Deautsch dankee
Hallo Kiki und Karli, a very net collection of soldering irons/butts you have .
Hi Mario brilliant soldering torch/butt, I do not think it has ever been used before
It has just gained a really nice clean even patina, it even has the Primus swing tag
Hallo forum here is a link, of the Turner lotlampen working
Hallo Kirki und Karli danke fur your complements, the red paint on the handle is original I did give it another coat with red plasikote paint.
I also filmed it on my camcorder to upload on youtube, but I was not happy with it as there was a lot of back ground noise, I will do another film of it tomorrow and upload it.
Hi Erwin no problems and your welcome
