Phoebus 635 brass

  • Hi All,
I wanted to receive more info on the lantern,
found this on a trip to Bulgaria in a junk shop and paid only 15 euros for it
As far as I know (after some research) its the only one looking exactly like this
its should be from around 1940's - same model exists but in nickel plating and red knobs
any more info will be apriciated

    condition found:
    phoebus_635_before.jpg
    after cleanup
    phoebus_635_after.jpg
and of course burning using a pmax 250cp jet and needle (only thing replaced)
    phoebus_635_burning.jpg
    thanks

  • Hi Doron,
This is a nice lantern. Funny - I found one last week on the flea market too (but the more common nickel plated version).
Phoebus is actually an Austrian manufacturer (with the nice logo of Metallwarenfabrik Josph Rothental).
If your lantern says "Germany" then it can clearly only be made between 38-45 - but probably you know this anyway.

15 bucks is a good deal for sure..

    cheers
    Michael
