pressure lamp with automatic start on button press?

  • Hi,

a turkish friend told me, in his childhood (1970's), they had in turkey pressure lamps
that were more easy to start than the usual Petromax. They just had to pump up the pressure and ignite the lamp afterwards with a button.

May this be correct? Do exist such pressure lamps with a kind of automatic start ???

I gess he remembers wrong. Maybe these were Gas-lanterns (not kerosene), which had a piezo ignition. ??

  • Hi Willi,

this sounds strange to me, too.
If the lamp needs liquid fuels, it needs to be preheatet... ok, some Coleman-lamps don't, as they run on whitegas/petrol, but are producing smoke for a few seconds, until they preheated themselves.

A startingbutton??? I would be surprised if he could bring up a picture of thet lamp, being not a gaslantern...

Or he ment the knob of the rapid-preheater? ?(
