I have a 150cp and after it runs for a while the font (tank) gets extremly hot to the touch. Is this normal ? I'm burning kerosene and it seems to be running good.

hi mitch,
the tank getting hot with the 150 CP is a known phenomen.
remember it is a small lamp and the mantle is not far away from the tank.
don´t worry, that ist normal.
user ernst frei offers a protection plate for these lamps, which i do recommend ! -
Hi Mitch,
please use not kerosene.
use unleaded fuel.
and use to much preassure.
relese some air until the lamp loose brighness.
after that, pump 2-3 times.
this is the best pressure for your lamp.greetings the wanderer

Thanks for the info, the protection plate sounds like it would really help. Where can I get it? I'm in the U.S. and the dealer here doesn't have one for the 150cp.

you can contact ernst frei here and ask him if he would ship to the u.s.

Hi Mitch,
I already use the Swiss font protection plate. Nonetheless in Petro/Kerosene operation the font/tank reaches 55-60°C after 1 h of operation at 2 bar. (measured at surface next to the rapid burner)
But the Protection plate /Shield does help, as other figures suggest:
-- downside of the protection plate =110°C
-- Centerscrew in the middle between tank and centerplate = 55°C
whilst:
-- at the centre of the rapidburner = 75°CPS. I guess Uli Bodensee will tell me this thread is one year old and you might not read it.
But maybe? (for sake of thread abo)best regards

This is normal for a 150cp....running with kero should not be an issue...however I would not convert to Gas
