New HK500 2 issues, requesting support

  • Recently bought HK500. After first use, when it did work and was lighted for about 2 hours the following issues occur. 1) Pre heater does not work, flame is not coming at all. It looks as if pressure is too strong. 2) as soon as light pressure is generated and gripwheel (part 111) is in closed position, kersosine starts leaking out the spray nozle (part 50). I tried to solve this by turning gripwheel couple of times but no result.

    Would appreciate your helpfull suggestions

  • Hi, Be sure font is clean, agitate and rinse( x many).
Find proper balance of air and fuel at pre heater, adjust preassure.Flame too orange(not enough air)if kero, flame must be nice blue.
Check that generator foot valve is functioning. You may have to remove it from font to inspect.
Try pushing down on needle rod, there should be reasonable resistance.
OR MAYBE because rapid not heating vapourizer sufficently, you have raw fuel.
    Hope this helps,m...030

  • 1. Preheater

When putting pressure on the tank (like 2 bar minimum) and opening the preheatervalve, is there petroleumvapour coming out of the preheaternozzle? If not, use handneedletool to clean nozzle.

    2. Leaking petroleum from spraynozzle when handwheel is in "closed" position

Looks like a defectiv carburetor foot valve gauge. (part 193). Please contact user "Frei's Petrollampen" to get better new ones.

Good news: Using the softstartmethod, both of your problems don't keep you from lighthing up your lantern!

    HTH!

    Cheers.

  • Hi Joost,
    and welcome here :welcome:

Most had been told before, but a non working preheater at a new lamp is mostly connected to a tank, filled up to the maximum.

The rapid-preheater needs fuel and air out of the tank, if you put in one liter of fuel, there is almost no air left and it would blow in a fuel-fuel-mixture instead of an fuel-air-mixture.

Try 0,75 liters of fuel for better results :done:
