Hi Eugen good morning and thank you very much,i am happy and lucky that the jet's are all i good with my small collection of benzine/petrol blowtorches,so they all work with a strong blue flame.

The problem is when one needs replacing is that they are very difficult to find a replacement as the jet are different to the paraffin/petroleum blowtorches and stoves which are easy to buy as pelam sell them on there website as well as basecamp and ebay so replacements are not a problem.

Do the german made benzine blowtorches/lotlampen jets fit the Sweedish and other European style benzine lotlampen/blowtorch? and can they still be purchased easy in Germany?and are they all standard size

Hi Eugen Danke the green colour was due to the copper in the brass as the blowtorch had been cleaned in and out of the tank and had never been used since untill today, the green colour soon went after 5 mins

Hi every one here are some pics and a little explanation of my Monitor 43A benzine/gasoline petrol Lotlampen/blowtorch.This lotlampen/blowtorch was made in Birmingham UK around the late 1940's/50's .Monitor was one of the biggest manufactures in the UK of pressure stoves and blowtorches, there products were very well made and made many different types of stoves and blowtorch's.Most profesional tradesman mainly plumbers if they had a British Blowtorch it would be a Monitor or a Sweedish Primus Max Sievert etc

This Lotlampen/Blowtorch has not been lit for a long time and when it was first lit it burnt with a green flame due to the copper after 5 mins the flame turned blue the right colour,i am sorry i have written this in English as i only know a very little Deutsch

Hi Fox a beautifull lantern these are realy well built and so reliable and give a good bright light

The Vapalux/Bialladin are in fact better quality than the Tilley 246B and i personaly prefer the seperate filler cap and pressure release screw than the combined pump systeem Tilley use where you have to remove the pump to fill the tank and loosen it to de pressurise the stove,i am sure you are going to be very satisfied with your new Vapalux

Hi Fox no problem just give us a call if you haave any problems, i am sure you will love your Vapalux they are a realy well built and robust lantern and are not compliecated so operating and serviceing easy,
sadly though they are no longer made in Halifax but now they are made in south Korea
but at least the lanterns are still being made, they are quite expensive to buy new nearly £200 but the new company have kept up the quality in fact very high

Hi Fox what a real beauty and in fantastic condition, i realy love the rounded/convex shaped glass it realy sets a lantern off, and gives it a touch of class i am not surprised the 202 is such a sought after lantern

Hi Peer thank you there was a lot of cleaning of the inside of the tank and inside the burner, so it would work well, i forgot to mention it is running on coleman fuel which is expensive but is very clean burning with no addatives

Hi every one i have now completed the restoration of my Max Sievert APH Benzine gasoline petrol blowtorch,Here are the pics of the various parts of the restoration in the first pic is how it came it was completely coverd in black soot and carbon, and it had a strong smell of leaded petrol and there was still a small amount still in the tank which must have been in there for years. it was then all striped down and soaked in hot water and soda crystals which is a stong detergent, which removes all the oil and dirt from inside and out side the tank, i then rinsed it and then soaked it in hot water and citric acid to remove all the tarnish, and then rinsed all the parts in clean water and dried the parts i replaced the cotton wick in the fuel pic up tube as the old one was realy dirty, i then removed all the carbon in the burner head,i then replaced the washer in the filler cap with a new viton washer and all so the safety valve on top of the filler cap with a viton washer/pip

I then replaced the pump non return valve washer and fitted a new leather pump cup which i buy from from a guy in turkey who sells them on ebay and through Classic camp stoves which i all so am a member, this guy in Turkey makes the best pump cup/washers i have ever used,

I then re packed the packing Gland with some brilliant Graphittape which i purchased from Peter Bendel many thanks Markus for the information on this brilliant graphittape, all the parts was polished on my polishing machine the finish is not perfect as there is quite a lot of surface scratches and pits, to get a perfect finish i would have had to polish a lot of the brass away which is not a good idea as itb would make the brass thinner and remove a lot of the deail in the lettering the blowtorch was then assembled, i have reached my max amount of pics so i will stop now and continue shortly

Hi Stefen i must admit i am a bit lucky having a petrol staion close by that sells it as they are very few around now, that petrol station that sells it is a old fashioned family owned buisness, there is a place even cheaper that sells it at 90pence a litre but it is in new southgate in north london he sells butane gas red diesel which is low tax for machinery and paraffin i go there most of the time as i work in north london i buy 20 litres at a time if in a emergany i will go to the petrol station which it is £1.25 a litre

Hi Stefen i dont buy the pre pac paraffin what comes in a plastic container i buy it from a local fuel station that still sells it from the pump that way it is cheaper,as i do have two paraffin heaters i use for extra heat or when i dont want to use the central heating.a well known brand of pre packed paraffin is from caldo there web site is www.caldo.co.uk they do a premium grade paraffin and paraffin extra which is modified so there is no odour and has a higher flash point which makes it better if used in a heater inside but would only use the premium grade in my pressure stoves lanterns and blowtorches,

Hi Stefen your heating coil could have a build up of carbon in slowing the heating process or the paraffin fuel here in the UK may be a bit more volatile so it turns to vapour/gas easier so it little less time in preheating

Hi stefen a very good explanation you have come up with,Paraffin fueled blowtorches are more common in the Uk than petrol/benzine,i am not sure of the reason it could be that paraffin was all ways cheaper to buy than petrol/benzine and paraffin was the most common fuel to heat the home other than coal and paraffin could be bought at fuel station's and every high street had a hardware shop that sold paraffin.i use my paraffin blowtorches for all sorts of work from paint stripping soldering work removing bolts that have siezed and i all ways find one spirit cup of spirit is enough to start my paraffin blowtorches about 3-4 mins but if lit out side i all ways use a wind shield to stop the wind effecting the burning spirit blowing it away from the heating coil,

but i do have one paraffin blowtorch that needs to preheats as it was made in the 1970's may be early 80's that has a steel burner nozzle and not brass so it takes 2 preheats to heat up the coil

Hi to every one first of all i would like to offer my appologies for posting a few pics of my Radius71 in this section and not being able to speak German

I have had this Radius71 for about 20 years now when i first started to collect blowtorches stoves and lanterns,i have a few only Benzine powered blowtorches as all my others are paraffin/petroleum fueled, and have only used one ot two benzine blowtorches in my collection, and today i fired up this 71 for the first time in over 20 years, i recently changed the cotton wick in the fuel pic up tube changed the seal in the filler cap with a new viton seal and changed the seal in the safety valve and today i repacked the packing gland with some graphite tape i bought from Peter Bendel, which is superb quality and has worked perfectly, here are some pics of the Radius71

Hi Peer i am not surprised they are in so much demand and fetch a good price being as they are a realy good quality and are built to last and they work superbly and they are a little different in design than other european torches that makes them more interesting

Hi Markus i have just fitted the packing to the gland and it looks 100% like the real thing made for that torch it realy is a brilliant product,a very big thank you to you for telling me about it and to Peter when it is finished i will show the whole restoration and of it working i am just waiting on some viton washers for the filler cap

Hi every some time last week i started a thread over on CCS about some graphite yarn i purchased to stuff the glands on a few petrol blow lamps i am restoring, even though this yarn works a fellow member has used it as well and said it does not last very long so it is not suitable, after a few discussions on it Markus on here who is all so a member on CCS recomended this graphite tape he uses and gave the web site. the owner Peter Bendel in Germany i contacted Peter via a email even though i can not speak any German i got a very nice email from Peter a realy nice man who was so help full so i purchased some of his graphite tape which the quality is superb and very cheap to buy i am going to replace the graphite yarn in my blowlmaps with this and will now be able to finish my Max Sievert APH petrol/benzin blowlamp,

Here is a pic of the tape i purchased from Peter and you can see what a super quality it is
