Here is my newest acquisition. I'm not sure it is a Tilley PL53 or a PL55. The tank is made of steel, so I think it is dated between 1940 and 1945 because brass was scarce during this period. I replaced all the the washers. Now it's burning my retina to hell...!

Hi Paul,
I think it is the PL53 Model from Tilley, i have seen that`s no globe in there.
If you need a gloobe you must look for a Tilley onion globe no 182.
I have one, too.
It`s a very good lampHave fun with her

what you have there is a PL53
the difference between the PL53 and PL55 is the tank size
while 53 has a 1.5pint tank the 55 has a 2.5pint tank.
The steel PL53 was produced from approximately 1938 to after the war
This could have been produced specify for a military purpose,
as the same brass PL53 produced in tandem for the general public, -
Thanks, this was the information I needed!
