Got a crush on needles

  • When I got my Anchor 500CP recently I had to strip it almost immediately and when I reassembled the needle and jet, I did so with the needle in the raised position.

Once the lamp had been run, when I raised the needle it did not come through the hole but it crushed.

The same thing happened with a replacement needle.

When I fitted the last needle, I put it in the lowered position before fitting the jet and now it goes up and down fine.

Has anybody else come across this problem?

  • Hi coffinman, yep, had the same thing happen a few times over the years with different types of lamps, can be rather annoying and expensive so i make sure the needle is always in the down position now, cannot work out why it happens though, ?( regards Frank

  • Thank you Frank, that gives me confidence now that if I fit them that way they will be ok.

The lamp cost me £40 and I am about to spend £52 on parts!

But I have seen it running well, and it will be well worth the cost when sorted I'm sure.

    Thanks.

  • Needles can be a real pain in the ass...take it nice and slow when turning fuel wheel
