Hi Willi, thanks fellas for the replies, the most common brand lamp here in the state of Queensland would be the Handi, the company started and finished in Brisbane from the thirties to the early eighties, there are plenty of them but finding them with the glass unbroken is harder as the class is a very unusual shape and size, they are a bright lamp, cheers Frank

Hi Martin, thanks for the reply, the good ones of these are harder to find here, but also in this country those great European lamps are scarce and very expensive to buy when they do come up, kind regards Frank

Hello to all, here are a few of the lanterns made in
Australia from the 1930ies through to today, thought you may like to see them,
only one lamp company still manufactures here today, AUSTRAMAX, they have been
in production since the thirties and are still in the same family making
lanterns today, but as always, quality has suffered.

The first picture is a Kayen AP2, made in Sydney from the forties until the
early sixties, they made a few different types of lamps, this one has a copper
tank they are a little rarer than others, 300 cp.

The next picture is from left, the first Handi made in the thirties, this one
was called the Swift lite, it resembles the AGM American model 100, it is
300cp, in the middle is a Aladdin made under license from Sweden, similar to
the Radius, they made many different styles of this lamp, all brass, all chrome,
and others, 300cp, great lamp. On the far right is another Handi 300 cp, they
made this lamp in kerosene and petrol versions, this one was made in the early eighties just at the end
when the Handi company finished and closed, in their time as a company they
made many products, including kerosene pressure stoves.

The last picture is a Austramax lantern, 300 cp kerosene,
this is one of the first models made in the 40ies, these lamps are built well
    and are bright lanterns.

    Hope you enjoy the
    pictures, regards Frank

Gd'ay Willi, thanks for getting back about the tito landi lamp, i saw one of these lamps operating on ebay that was for sale and it looked very bright, it seems that some think they are a little dangerous to operate, i am interested in the alcohol type, also i understand that there are German lamps of this type, i would be interested to know of these, regards Frank

Hell9o Sasha, i have one older Petromax and many Chinese clones of the Petromax lamp and none of them leak there because manufacturing has been good, :applaudit: perhaps you need to contact those who supplied the lamp because they have sold you a faulty lamp, :megaphon: regards Frank

Hello Movix, where the excentre, screws into the housing, as they tighten together that is a factory machine seal, it may not be tight enough, [but do not over tighten] if tightening does not work because the seat is damaged, a fuel proof sealer i have used, other more experienced lampies on the forum may have better advice, regards Frank.

hey Martin, nice to hear from you, the 1960ies Petromax in the pic burns beautiful and bright, it is the brightest of all my lamps, the Primus 1001 has developed a problem of giving a hiccup every couple of minutes then burns bright again, sure like to know why it is doing that, ?( someone may have a idea, regards Frank.

G'day fellas, hope you all had a great xmas, :nikolaus: wishing all of you a happy new year, havent posted in a while so i thought to share a pic of some family favourites, after the wife of course, :frau: the old gardsman i bought in the 80ies, sat in the shed for years with a bvroken burner until i found another one for parts,, after she was resurected that started something, you guys know what i mean, the chrome on the Tilley is still in great shape and she burns a treat, cheers guys, Frank :D

Hi Brian, looks like you have the old girl working great, i have a HR11 Kayen Australian equivalent, it has sat there for about three years, you may have inspired me to do something about mine, i am thinking of trying to make my own mantle, is your mantle factory made, cheers Frank

Hi coffinman, yep, had the same thing happen a few times over the years with different types of lamps, can be rather annoying and expensive so i make sure the needle is always in the down position now, cannot work out why it happens though, ?( regards Frank

Hi Brian these are a very interesting looking lamp, nice restore and burning bright to, did these come out with a brass tank or were they only produced in steel because of the time of production being the war years, anyhow great low cost lamp resto, regards Frank.

Hello Martin, i got this lantern here in my town Toowoomba Australia, since the few short years of collecting pressure lamps i have only seen about four on sale in OZ, plenty on sale at ebay but by the time you purchase the older Petromax on ebay and usually add about seventy dollars US freight i was in front by a long way with this buy, regards Frank :D

Thanks for replies guys, Petromax and the other good not so common lamps like Hasag, Optimus some good older Coleman’s, and the Aussie Gloria, they sell for a lot more than 100 bucks over here, the lamps in the background are Coleman, Akron, Aussie Austramax and Kayen,Tilley, Hasag, Anchor, there are other variations of these there, I do have some Austramax lanterns, they are the only Aussie lantern still in production, Handi, Gloria, Kayen, and Aladdin have all long stoped production, I have one of the older Austramax which are much better quality than the new
ones but they are still a great little lantern, the new ones also have strait
glass but I have a number of new old stock bulge glasses thankfully. Cheers Frank

Hi fellas, well i could hardly believe my luck a couple weeks ago when i was reading a local secondhand paper and there was a Petromax super 500 cp lantern for sale for a hundred bucks, :P :P went and had a look at it and it was in really great shape and a early sixties model to boot, just the kind i was after, they rarely come up for sale in OZ.
Fired it up as the old fella that had it only used it a few weeks prior, still full of kero, i was very impressed, i have a few Chinese clones of various names and it leaves them for dead in all departments, but this info would be nothing new to you guys as they are in plenty supply over where you are, verrrrrrry happy chappy, :bounce: :bounce: regards to all Frank

Hey Michael, surely no wife could object to such a beautiful lantern, even more so seeing the great price, but we must run the risk at times :frau: :frau: :frau: to have such pleasure,  enjoy Michael, :D regards Frank.

Hi Michael, that's a great looking Tilley, is the pump brass or Aluminum, occasionally i have come across one with a brass pump, love the gold tank  enjoy your new baby, Frank

Hello again fellas, hope you are all keeping warm at night around a lamp or two as you work, couple more picks of the Coleman 241, 242 kero :?: it came with a strange frosted companion brand globe, there is only one identification mark as you can see, would be good to know what model lantern this is, kind regards to all, Frank .
