As I see the lamp now works well albeit I didn't use it for a long time due to the the mantle was holed during the experiments and till now I hadn't changed it. But I'm sure that the leak around the screw in the mixing tube was sealed correctly by heat resistant bronze paste. As the weather will enough good and I will going to go somewhere outside :)I will try it out in real conditions. My experiments will be reported here as soon as it possible.

I cover it on the twist and on the outer layer with thick bronze paste layer. Now I don'l see any puffs and the smell is much better. Originally the screw has an about 1/3-1/4 mm wobble around its mortise (hole).

Otherwise in meanwhile I sealed the problematic screw with bronze paste and the smell became much better. But if I use this lamp without cap the brightness yet better. Everything are on these place, tightly.

    Dear Willi,
The exhaust pipe lute give detachable cementation on twists? Ie. the broken burner an able to unscrew easily?
The stainless burner. Unfortunately the mantle clamp is not compatible with the ceramic burner due to their different termic expansion ratio. The burner will be broken just until the first use. I tried, did not work. On the other hand I travel a lot with this lamp therefore I really like to use this (clamp +stainless) combination. But if I won't find any other way I change it to ceramic burner of course but I like to avoid this step if possible.
A question: the small screw in the mixing tube is important?

    Dear Members!
I have a new CP 500 petromax lantern but I can not use it perfectly.
The lantern has stainless nozzle and mantle holder clamp. I use it with ordinary and odorless, purified petroleum.
    Te problem:
    - the lamp is smelly. While the mixing tube is in the highest upper position and the screw in the mixing tube is in the optimal position (the possible brightest), strong odour (unburned petroleum vapour) exits somewhere from the gap and/or the mixing screw area. From the latter in form of small puffs. Like the fuel vapor's beam are wider than the mixing tube's inlet or the vapor are leaks around the screw.
    - the lantern become brighter while I use it without the upper part (the cap) like the lamp would not get enough air.
    What I doing wrong?
