Hi Peer, you are right i do need space for these new lamps, but i will let you know if i can't fit them in, weather conditions aside, i would just hate myself if i sent the table lamp to either of you and ended up starting a European war, :D :respekt: Frank

Hi Michael, i will post some more close up picks tomorrow of any markings i can find, i have a 249 and a 247 Coleman, but this one has the same thin type generator as the 247, and it does not have the positive shut off stem in the pump handle, thanks for the help Michael.

Thanks for the replies Bjorn, Brian, some help with a couple of these lamps would be most welcome, the 118, can it run on kero :?: as i only have kero lamps, the little coleman i do not know if it is a 242 or a 241 kero, i read somewhere that the Australian railways back in the thirties ordered these from Canada, the old pork pie Tilley runs just beautiful after new seals, i could not afford the ebay offers so that alone was a steal for forty OZ bucks, cheers Frank.

Hi fellas, had a good weekend lamp hunting at the annual two day junk sale recently held, a Coleman 118, do not know much about them, primus 1020, the older Tilley that i am chuffed with, not sure about the middle Coleman 242, has no markings except made in Canada and it has a NRV like the Petromax style, and a great condition 246, though i am really pleased with my haul :D i think i might have used up my lamp liberty for the year with the wife :frau:

G'day Michael that is a nice Vapalux, i do not have a Vapalux but i have old Bialaddin and like yours built like a tank, really bright to, haven't gotten to the carb cleaner yet, to busy at the annual huge flea market, twenty acres of stuff, picked up five new, old toys, a primus, three great old Coleman, one a little rarer i think, 242A, one beautiful condition guardsman, i would like to share them with some pics as soon as i can, Frank. :D

Hey Michael thanks for that  i never would have given that a thought, i have a couple of lamps that need generators and most of those i have are gummed up so i will look forward to trying that out.
I have used a product called CLR to soak and clean out Tilley generators and that works pretty good but they are a different type deal on the inside to the R55, it also tends to eat the fine pricker wire so i did not use it because unlike the Tilley you carn't remove the pricker wire, cheers Frank

G'day fellas, just got a question some of the Coleman lampies might have the answer to, i have a couple of R55 Coleman generators that need cleaning on the inside, they are not easy to get down in Ozz and if you buy one they are expensive, :?: is there some chemical readily available to clean the gum out and not destroy the pricker needle to boot, thanks guys, frank.

Hi Brian, you sure have made a nice job of that 246, is that a new top or do you have some sort of heat proof paint that holds its color after heating, enjoyed the before and after, cheers Frank.

Hi Michael, fine example of the 228 you have, i love the older Coleman's they are well made and have nice lines to the eye, i don't think the Ireland climate is good for your lamp though, better suited to the dry Aussie climate, :D cheers and enjoy, Frank.

Hi Klaus and Bjorn, thanks for your input i will strip it all down again and see if that is the problem, it makes sense that there has to be some problem with the fuel pickup, i felt in the tank with a thin screw driver and the pickup reaches to the bottom almost so it should pick up the fuel to near empty if it is in good condition, let you know the outcome, thanks guys, frank.

Hello and happy new year, i see some were good boys and got what they wanted for xmas, :nikolaus: the Hasag Presto 142 P i posted here a little while back with the thread question, it runs great but the problem i hope someone can help with is it runs fine if the tank is full but if around half full it goes dull to bright like it is running out of fuel, what do you think is the problem, enjoy the new year, Frank. ;(

Hello Brian, if you need some spares, just mail me what you require, better someone use them than just horded up, regards, Frank  by the way, sorry Brian, i put the wrong person to the post on Guardsman, must have been asleep. :)

These are a great old lamp Bjorn, not like the ones produced today, they are very common in Ozz, i have one i bought more than twenty years ago before the lamp bug bit me, still looks and goes great, i have heaps of good spares if you need them for free, just freight, enjoy the restoration, Frank

Thanks for the helpful info, i was trying to undo the wrong way but all is good now, have the lamp back together and it is running great, fixed all the air leaks and that seems to have cured the pulsing problem, look forward to chatting more fellas, regards frank

hello to all from Australia, just new here, glad to be a part of this forum :) ?( questions, just purchased my second Hasag, a 142 PRESTO, it does not run to well yet the light surges up and down, bright v dull, i am currently stripping it down, could someone tell me if the thread for the main fuel valve assembly screwed into the center of the tank is right or left hand any help with the bright dull surging would be gratefully appreciated as well, good to know from others who have knowledge of this, saves a lot of time and almost tears by hit and miss method :traurig:
    regards Frank
