    Some other questions (again! :-))

Is it correct that the only difference between a model 828/350 and 829/500 are the neeple and the needle?

The available spares today do fit in the old models 828 and 829 with the differents rapid adapters or there are differences in the old models ?

    Thanks!

Thanks Wilm for this information! The trick of the rapid type is great :-)
Isn't it funny that the E inside the G disappeard from the logo on the lantern but still remains in the logo on the glass? :-)

    Cheers,
    Carlo

Thanks! As I think someday I'll buy another "old" Petromax, I'm trying to find out the criteria to reconize age and type :-)

Is it true that when there is an "E" inside the "G" logo means that it has been built before 1947?
I understood that the "B" after the type means Benzin but what about the "E" like, for instance in the 828E?

Tha's all for the moment :-) Sorry but I don't speak German and most of documents in internet are from Germany...

    Hi the Gurus :-)

When on a 829 500CP it's written "Germany REGD" under the Petromax Rapid logo instead than "Made in Germany", does it mean that the lantern is a new one from China?

    Thanks! Carlo

Thanks Bijorn! I actually changed recently the vaporizer's lead seal and I am 100% sure there is only one and the vaporizer is strongly screwed in :-)

My guess is that the upper part of the vaporizer is simply longer than it should... anyway, it works pretty well and even if there is a bit less brightness is not so important. I just wanted making sure that I didn't anything wrong mounting it!

By the way, I thought that it was mandatory stamping where products are made but I could'nt find any "made in China" on the lantern, is there one hidden somewhere?

    :gaehn:

    Carlo

    Thanks Bjiörn!

I checked the distance between nozzle and mixing tube and brightness is now pretty the same :-)

The only issue remaining is that the new Petromax generator is higher and to obtain exacly 14mm (I used the Petromax tool) I should put the mixing tube pratically out the hole in the inner casing...

I attach 2 photos to show the difference, the Petromax (recent) has the highest generator.

Is there any way the change this or is it normal?

    Thanks in advance!

HI All, I bought on ebay my second Petromax lantern and, following the great suggestions on this site, I easily repared it and it works great now, thans! :merci:

It’s actually a Geniol German military model HK500 829B but it’s written Petromax on several parts, is it the same company? I don’t know how if it’s possible to know its age, do you have any suggestions?

By the way it works so great that it makes a bit more light than the new Patromax HK500 that I bought 3 months ago. :applaudit:

I’m surprised as it should be the very same nozzle and power, is there any regulation to apply on the more recent model? I already tried the mixing tube paddle and it seems an optimium setting...

    Thanks again for your help!

I’m getting crazy with this problem… :traurig:

I can use my CP500 with the rapid preheater but as I try to switch it off leaving the pressure, it works 2 or 3 times and, after that, petrol starts coming out from the nipple event if I close the wheel.

Anytime I had the problem, I uncounted the carburetor group and found that the plastic ring washer fitting into the valve washer #193 was partially out of its place. I put it inside (or even change entire #193 and the associated spring and #90)) I mounted it back and the lamp worked correctly back 2 or 3 times and I have the same problem again and again…. :explode:

What’s wrong? Why closing the wheel when the lamp is hot generate move thering washer out of its place???

Of course I can still light the lamp with alcohol but I really would like understanding…

BTW: I use kerosene (“Petrole” in French)

    Any idea? :merci:

    Thanks,
    Carlo

    Hello,

I disassembled the generator and discovered that the plastic ring fitting into #193 was not completely flat. I put it correctly in it support and, after reassembling all parts, anything works correctly now!!! Without replacing any parts! :naughty:

    Thanks all for your help!

    Cheers,
    Carlo

    Thanks Doron,

sorry for the misundertanding, I don't use Petrol in the US meaning :-) Petrol is a french/italian word for kerosene.

As the lamp is new, does someone know how to apply warranty ?

    Carlo

    Hi Miche,

    thanks for your reply!!! :merci:

Yes the lamp is brand new and #193 is new as well of course...
Do you think it should be replaced even if new?

    Carlo

    Hi,

I’m new to this forum as I received my new lamp (500) past week!

I have a problem with petrol coming out from the spray nozzle when I put the lamp under pressure (not very much but enough to dry the bottom of the lamp).

I tried replacing the needle and I destroyed it as it didn’t enter in the nozzle hole. :frau:

I ordered a new one but I’m wondering what the right way to mount it is. Should it be screwed tightly or not? I’ve the impression that leaving it some movement helps entering in the hole…
Another question: is it normal if the petrol comes out from the spray nozzle when the lamp is hot?
    Thanks for your help!
