    Hello,

I have also two Petromax 500 CP lamps and I have tried the much advertized stainless steel nozzle. But it does not function properly. With that steel nozzle you get very often these flare-ups etc. so it is a bit of crap!

To Benz-Ihn: Here in Finland´s army our partisane soldiers still use very much Tilley and Petromax kerosine lamps and burners during autumn and winter conditions in the forest and Lappland highlands.

    And one question, please:
I am now soon short of my Peerless Thorium mantles that I byed a year or two ago from USA. Do you know if I now a days can buy these mantles frome Europe?

    Hi,

I then ordered my Petromax spare parts (inclusive glasses) directly from Petromax Gmbh 25.8.2012. In my order was some 40 different parts and I got all those small parts very rapidly to my home door by DHL yesterday on 29.8.02012 This is a very good service!

    Ok,

But only the firm "Tunnelmantuojat" says that they have any spare glasses and then to a price between 15-20 €!

So, I think it is best to order these spare glasses and also some other spare parts (seals etc) directly from Pelam.

    Thank you for your advices

Don´t worry :done: Petromax-lanterns were invented, about 100 years ago. They were built for fuel of much less quality than you can buy today, where we have pure and clear petroleum of high quality... ;)

If you say my burning problems are due to too clean petroleum, then I must try to use some of Lukoils or Neftegaz bulk Kerosine petroleum. I will report back.

Anteeksi mutta en oiken ymmärtänyt Voisitko hieman tarkemmin selittää mitä tehdä? Sorry, I did not quite understand, but could you please some what more specify how to get rid of this pulsating light?

    Hi all

I have two Petromax lanterns from Petromax Deutschland. They have functioned very well but the sound of the lanterns is somewhat pulsating - is this normal?

Now my other Petromax have also begun to pulsate the light intensity according to the pulsating sounds!

The pulsating frequence of these lanterns are very near a human beings heart rates, but I do not think they can have anything to do whis this:)

Please, tell me how I can get rid oif the pulsating light? With the the pulsating sound there is no problem - it does not disturb me.

Best Regards to all of you,

    Hi

Upper in this thread Benz-ihn told that it is possible to get a little bit more light output from a Petromax by using an elongated Butterfly mantle.

Could you please inform me where from Europe I can by such mantles? Here in Finland I have not found these mantles.

    Hi,

Thanks to everybody for the advices as HerrLehmann, Wanderer,
Sturmkappe1978, leo, Diddi, and of course the Benz_ihn himself!

In Finland we have a firm called "Kaasuvalo" in english "Gaslight", and that is a very small firm, but owned by the Russian governemet Gasprom, the world largest energy company!

Ok, I now succeeded to by some bether manthle from this "Kaasuvalo" store in Helsinki!

Best regards and have a nice weekend

Ok, thank you very much for your advices!

I thought that I could get from the two hole mantle even more light!

But the durability of the mantle is not for me any big issue, that is because my three Petromax lanterns are all very stationary positioned.

I tried to find from Finland (where I live) these suggested "Coleman gold top 1111" mantles, but without any luck. Do you know any netshop that have these?

    Best regards.
