I have just bought an Optimus 1550 500cp on Ebay. This in my opinion was a good buy, I was very impressed with the build quality and finish. After a clean and a new mantle I fired it up and it is very bright compared to the rest of my collection.
The only problem that I have is that it seem to pulse when running, I have cleaned all the internals and used fresh fuel.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Also how can I date this lamp, there are no date stamps that I can see, but it came with its original instructions that look quite old.
Is the Optimus the best 500cp Lantern or should I still keep collecting?

!Maybe it would be a good idea to use a piece of brass gaze to surround the conductor rod in the upper part of the vaporizer.
This should be a good way to avoid pulsating.To date the lamp...? It seems to be one of the late lamps build by Optimus. Maybe early 80`s. But I am not sure.
But I am sure, that Optimus pressure lanterns are very good manufactured, even the newer ones.
