Cleaning Optimus 930

    Hi All


    I have found an Optimus 930 that I will be fixing up over the coming weeks.


    I have restored quite a few lanterns in my time, but I have never done one that looks quite like this on the tank and hood.


    Any tips on cleaning based on the picture?

    Citric acid perhaps?

    How much citric acid do you normally use per liter of water and what is the procedure when you use it?


    I know some people boil the parts in a citric acid mix. Do you do this? And for how long if you do?

    I take 50-70 grams of citric acid per liter of water.

    So 5-7% solution.
    There the things to be cleaned are given.
    But no aluminum, please.


    Warming up or cooking slightly shortens the process,

    I've never done that before.

    In a cold solution it takes a while until everything has chemically dissolved.

    The more dirt and rust, the longer it will take.

    Sometimes a half day is enough, sometimes you have to wait a few hours longer.

    And dont forget to neutralise the parts with a strong sollution of soapwater after bathing in citric acid


    (wer es besser kann soll das bitte korrigieren/verbessern - bei mir ist Englisch halt schon lange her)
