also check that the U-shaped metal (brass) tube (mixing tube) is free of obstructions.

Sometimes, insects e.g. small spiders build nests in there (not joking!).

This hinders the free, fast flow of the evaporated gas and in turn can cause overheating

(yes, it is difficult to check without destroying the mantle, so be sure to have a new one at hand)

You should dismount the hood, then upper part of the lamp (just lift off),, unscrew the clay burner (yes, it is screwed), then the mixing chamber, maybe also loosen the clamp screw, then you have good access.

The tube is 10-12 mm wide, so anything in the household flexible enough to "wipe through" there will do, be it only a small piece of cloth if nothing else is at hand.

Have you located the exact source of the problem as there were several possibilities mentioned as a potential source?
