Hi Brian
Excellent work Sir....very nice tilley, would love to have one of those..and great colour!!..Was looking at a nice brass one on the bay last week and the bidding ended up at 240pounds lol....

Hi Fox thank you very much for the compliement, the PL53 was made in the 1930's -40's i believe the PL53 52 was one of the first storm lamps Tilley produced,it surpriseis me what some of the lanterns fetch on the bay i have seen some of the rare indoor lamps reach over £1000,i thought this restoration was going to be expensive as i needed a new teardrop glass globe, as i haave seen the later onion globe sell for nearly £50 from some sellers on ebay but this globe cost me £15 from base camp which is a bargain i am not sure if it is a reproduction globe or original old stock but either way i am very happy with it and the deal

The bay can get crazy at times and bidding can get personal at times...That is a good price from basecamp...they have lots of goodies at a fair price....

Hi Brian these are a very interesting looking lamp, nice restore and burning bright to, did these come out with a brass tank or were they only produced in steel because of the time of production being the war years, anyhow great low cost lamp resto, regards Frank.

Hi Aussie bloke thank you for your compliement these did have brass tanks at first but during the war years they started to use steel and after that till the end of there production i beleive they then used brass, the PL53 fiinshed production about the late 40,s or about 1950
