    Hello Jan

I sawed the hole in the Tilley reflector with an electric saw. I finished it of with a Black&Decker powerfile. Problem was to find the centre from the botom of the bowl.
The lid had a hole where a big knob used to be. With a scissors for sheet metal I made the hole a lbigger and I finished it off with the powerfile. A normal file will work to but it some more work.
The best is to use a "nibbler" I hope this is the right word for it. It's a tool wich nibbles away a small line of metal. There are hand and electric nibblers.

Good luck with your reflector. Please send me a picture when you finished it

  • Yes, nibbler is the right word. I have got one working with compressed air, it really is a nice and very useful tool for working with sheet metal.
I am still loking for some old lids to try to make such a shade.
